His passion for botany and plant sciences led him to complete a Ph.D. on the Flora of Central and Southeastern parts of Pithoragarh District. He further solidified his academic credentials by earning a D.Sc. in 2015 for his groundbreaking research on the Assessment, Valuation, and Conservation Prioritization of Floristic Diversity in the Himalayas.
